Another character sketch of one of my owls. Used greylead.

Sketch for new etching

This is a sketch of some paper cranes I had decided to use for my hard ground etching. The varied line and detail in the floral patterns in the origami paper makes this design ideal for etching.

This is a bird I saw in my back yard the other day. I'm not sure of what species it can be, but I think it may be a black cockatoo. The bird itself is rather uncommon around my area and its dark feathers, large claws and yellow eyes gives it an eerie appearance, which in turn can provide some inspiration for works of my own.

Artist of inspiration-Mirka Mora

An artist I had discovered at one stage was Mirka Mora, a French-born local artist. She does works very similar to mine from her use of creature-like characters. Her child-like and simplistic use of colour and line is also characteristic to my style, yet I do not have much colour at all in my works. Although I only found out about her after I had already started creating those bird-like characters of mine, she is still a fascinating artist to look at for inspiration for her use of mediums.

Below I have uploaded particular works of hers that I found rather intriguing.

Works from Print-making class.

Here are the results of the different printing techniques we had to use in print-making class. These include a monoprint and a colour reduction bleed print (both created with the use of a lino cut) whilst the other is of an etching (created on a copper plate).

Another work I did at home with the use of my characters. Acrylic paint on canvas.

Drawing from tafe

As a part of the brief for one of our assignments, we were required to draw famous cultural architectural icon. I chose the Brandenburg gate. The drawing was created in entirely grey lead pencil with some colour pencil, as the work had to be mostly monocromantic with a limited colour scheme. There is some green outlined in the horses and the trees in the background.
