Painting

Above is just one of my paintings from my silhouetted series. Like all my other paintings, I have used stenciling and acrylic paint. There is a predominately bold colour scheme throughout the background, although I have used a subtle gradation of dark to light tones.

This particular work is from a diptych which focusses on this particular character within a desolate, isolated landscape. The young woman is placed in the foreground of the composition which especially draws the viewer's attention towards her lonely, melancholic body language and downcast features. Despite this work being rather simplistic in aesthetic terms, the wide expanse of space in this work provides more room for interpretation.
