Painting

Another diptych from my painting series, still attributing a similar gradual colour scheme with the use of stencils for the foreground. This work concerns a story of a spider who climbs down a bridge, completely oblivious of where the end of the bridge would take it. It is only until the second part of the diptych that the fog clears and he suddenly realises that the bridge is broken but is too late to stop himself. The helpless spider is depicted with his limbs flailing as he falls to his initially unsuspecting doom. I especially used the colour red as a device to capture the drama and suspense within the content of the work. The silhouetted forms additionally accentuate the geometric form of the spider and environment which in turn gives the work a spooky feel, while the character too is also experiencing fear.
